I am looking for the same thing. I have yet to find a set that will:

1. Work with the stock fronts and...
2. Hook with 800 RWHP.
3. Have a diameter that will not set off AH/TC hell.

"Big brakes" as in aftermarket? Or just big as in stock which are bigger than base C6 brakes?
OEM/factory C5 Z06 (17x9.5) front wheels will clear stock C6 Grand Sport (and C6 Z06) rear brakes. You can use either a 275-40-17 or 315-35-17 drag radial or even the Mickey Thompson ET Street bias ply 26-11.50-17 (probably better for manual cars) and get within acceptable range (but shorter) of the overall diameter/height of the stock 19" rims/tires.

Yes, Big Brakes as in stock for Z06 & GS. This is great information, now I can search for a particular wheel instead of guessing what off-set or backspace. Thanks very much for clearing this issue up.

So there is no problem mounting MT 26-11.50-17's on stock C5 front wheels 17 x 9.5 ?

You right, where the hell do you find wheels that work on a GS/Z06? I thought I found a drag pack this morning, but the GTO spares will not fit a GS?Z6

Some guys go with 17x11 C4 ZR1 Reps. you have to get the -36 backspacing. These are a good option as you can get a set for around $450. Otherwise, you could go with some 17x11 WELD wheel but they are around $1000 and shipping takes weeks to months.

The biggest DR made for a 17" wheel is the M&H Racemasters and they are 325. I'm personally going to go with a set of 18x12 C6 Z06 reps to put on a 345 Mickey Thompson.

Best of luck

No, no problem with that wheel/tire combo, the 17x9.5s usually work very well.

The GTO spares can be made to fit a GS/Z06 with a wide adapter (spacer) but a lot of people would rather avoid that approach. Changing the brakes over to C5 or base C6 brakes is an option as well but I don't think you're looking to do that.
You could also look into some Cadillac CTS-V 18" spare wheels (with M&H or M/T 18" skinnies that are available), but even those might not clear stock GS/Z06 brakes without some other modifications.

I was a little confused abut the backspacing on the C4 ZR1 Wheels, I thought I needed at least +58 to fit over the rear GS brakes? I have a forum member that has two 1991 zr1 17x11 wheels for sale.....will these work for sure? Thank much.

Being that they are 11 inch wheels you need to run the -36mm offset. Here is a thread with pics of what i'm talking about.

Racestar 17x9.5's with a 1/4" spacer mounted with 325/40/17 M&H Drag Radials (and please don't tell me that it's to much tire for the size rim because its not). The M&H tire by far is the best Drag Radial I've used at the power level I'm at.+- 750 RWHP.

Default Wheels

I ended up buying a set of C4Z 17x11 SawBlades that fit over the GS rear calipers. Thinking of going with M&H Racemaster Radial Drag Race Tire 325/45-17.

Default Tire and Wheels

I have decided to go with C5z 17 x 9.5's with Hoosier 315/35/17's on the rear and see how they do. Got some good recommendations and help. Thanks to all
