2 step with line lock

2 step with line lock
I am in the process of wiring up my MSD 2 step. I had some issues that i haven't resolved yet with using the clutch switch.
However, I was thinking this morning that I dont think its gonna work the way I intended.
I am following the lingenfelter 2step install guide for use with manual transmission and line lock. Basically, you are using the lower clutch switch to send power (via a momentary switch) to the 2 step and line lock when the clutch all the way in.
My thinking now is this: When I go to do a burnout and need the line lock to stay engaged, its gonna disengage as soon as I let out on the clutch.
At the starting line it would work as intended since they would both deactivate as soon as the clutch is released.
How are you other guys doing it? Separate momentary buttons for each?

On my C4 1992 I did it simple. I use the horn button to active the 2 Step and Line Loc. I use it for the burnout and staging. I am comfortable doing it this way. Most would prefer to active via the clutch. There are universal clutch switches available.

My issue is when I'm launching, I don't want it set higher than 2500 or so. So In that case, I would never get a good burnout.
Im prolly just gonna have them wired separately, with 2 separate switches. Either that or I'm gonna have to ditch the MSD and get the lingenfelter dual rpm

when you do them both off the same switch, in order to do a burnout you would have to have the module set pretty high, i.e. >4500 rpms.

May be hard to see in the picture, but I have 2 red buttone on the console. I wired the line lock and the 2 step through a relay (or two) decades ago. The top switch is a push on push off switch that will activate the 2 step. The bottom is a momentary switch that will activate the line lock and two step if the upper switched is in the down position. In other words, Burnout; upper button up which turns off the two step and lower button pushed with my finger. Burnout done. Staged; upper button in the down position, two step and line lock activated waiting for launch. Try again, both the two step and line lock go through the bottom button. Two step is turned on or off with the upper button. Actually it is simple to use, hard to describe. Hope this helps.
