Re: Dana 44 conversion problems.......... (mackeyred96)
Well at first I thought that the torque arm was bent, so I got another one, and they were the same. The only thing that I can think of is that they sent me the wrong driveshaft, maybe a 4+3 or something. I don't know if they are the same length or not.
Re: Dana 44 conversion problems.......... (DRAGRACR)
When I did my conversion I seem to remember more than 1/4" difference in driveshaft length between the A4 & 6M. I'll measure my spares tomorrow if you need it.
Re: Dana 44 conversion problems.......... (new92racer)
I got the rearend out again last night, and the driveshaft is too long. It measured 27 1/2 from center of the UV joint to center of UV joint. Looks to me that it needs to be about an inch shorter.
Re: Dana 44 conversion problems.......... (DRAGRACR)
But how would that keep it from turning? Would should have marked the original one while in the car then you would have known how far this one was entering the tranny.
Re: Dana 44 conversion problems.......... (DRAGRACR)
First time I tried to put my D44 in someone had posted you could use the D36 driveshaft. Wrong, it bottomed out in the trans. Switched to the 6M driveshaft, no more problem.
Glad you got things solved DRAGRACR.
