The rulebook makes no mention of upgrading the axle, simply the replacement. I don't know why this wouldn't be acceptable, though.

if you read and re-read it says that any IRS w/o upper and lower control arms is illegal, it gives the STOCK 63-82 as an EXAMPLE. From my understanding with Tom's kit it is legal as fast as you wanna goI think we are in agreement, here. I understand that the book only cites the C3 as an EXAMPLE. As in the above quote, the book makes no mention of correcting the problem, only changing the whole rear set up. I think the "Tom's" solution is a great one. You mentioned that NHRA won't allow the "Tom's" upper bar in the stock classes. In the link you provided even Tom's warns that it isn't legal in stock. IDEA! Would NHRA allow you to simply remove the bar, only, to run stock? It would leave some non-stock brackets on the car, but wouldn't effectively "alter" the rear suspension action. This would allow for a fairly quick change over between stock and bracket events. Good luck, and...

good idea however in the rare event we run a bracket race the officials are usually smart enough to see the class designations on the car and exempt us from whatever rules we don't meet :thumbs:
