Default Finally ran a 13

I have had my 03 A4 to LA County Raceway twice and the best it would run was 14.01 @ 101 mph. That track is at 2800 feet and the air is sometimes as high as 4500 feet.

So I told my wife I wanted to go to Carlsbad for the weekend and run the car at that track just for a time. Carlsbad is the only sea leval track in So. Ca.

My first run, the clocks were not working. The starting line was junk. Went back in line and waited for almost an hour while they tried to fix the timing gremlens. By then I was ready to leave, but couldn't get out of line. Finally they let us run. I was going to make only that run and get back to the hotel.

When I stopped by the tower to get my time slip, it read 13.65 @ 104.89 mph. Mission acomplished.

Jay

Hard to believe that the birth-place of drag-racing has so few tracks, and fairly poorly-maintained ones, at that.

Any future mods planned?

No mods planned. I have a K&N and a Z06 airbox lid and that's all. This car still has 35,000 miles of warrenty left. Now that I know how fast it really is, I probably will never run it again.

Hi Al, yeah, we kinda all been hangin out at Fontana for the last two races. I finally got my drag radials and the clutch replaced. I missed Fontana this last weekend, had family in town. Try and make August 21 at Fontana. The Viper guys are runnin pretty fast. All 11.80 Et's. One guy was running 10.70's, the Batmobile Viper.
