Default First Time Racer with Question - help

My hubby & I went Drag Racing for the first time this past weekend at the 1st Annual Rock & Roll Vette Fest. We had a BLAST!! I have an 04 CE Automatic and he has an 03 AE Automatic. We fully intend to do more racing but we want to go faster!! Scott is thinking of trading his in on an 04 CE Z06. He's already got a great deal set up on the Z06 but can't make up his mind. He has to let the dealer know by Thursday. Should he get the Z06 or just mod the one he's got?
What do all of you experts think?

As a team owner and organizer you are better off to stay with the automatics and contact one of the Forum tuners in your area to mod the cars. Bracket racing requires consistancy and the A4 is the best. Also, it is not hard to mod your cars to 11 second beast's....and for a good budget! Just ask Redgar....he runs mid 11's and we run high 11's & low 12's on bolt on's only!

Good luck and check out the Corvette Challenge series nearest you!

Need to think carefully about what your goals will be with modding.

If you get the Z you will probably mod it too.

consider modding the current A4 to a level at or quicker than a Z. My 99 A4 has run 11.20s in a very reliable configuration with cam, headers, gears, converter, intake, tires and tuning.

How quick would you want to go?

Here's our mods on our 97 Coupe:

Blackwing
Modified MAF

B&B PRT Exhaust

Transgo shift kit
3.42 Gears
Yank 3500 Torque Converter

...and you SAW what it could do at the track!

we experts.......i LOVE that.

consistency in dragracing for most is best achieved with an automatic. that's why i drag the one i do. my daily driver (c5, also) is a 6 spd. you wanna beat me girlfriend? keep your automatic!

why doesn't he get a 6 spd, though, and you can swing both ways?! i ran a friend's 6 spd at bowling green a few times, and it WAS fun!
