about the planes till they close it
It really looks like the state on NJ is trying to eliminate NHRA in NJ; if they succeed they deserve to lose the revenue from all motor sports events. Of course they will likely bring increased revenue from fining kids for street racing, which will surely increase with the closing of local strips.
I'm rapidly becomming an adovcate of street racing as it seems to be the only way to get the self-serving politicians out of the sport.
Reading the bill, the intent is to restrict racing to an 11am start,
which is certainly rediculous.
The text of the bill "..... no motor vehicle may operate on any motor vehicle race track located within a one-mile radius of any residential housing on any day before 11 a.m. or after 10 p.m., except for Sundays on which no motor vehicle may operate on such a motor vehicle race track before 11 a.m. or after 7 p.m. No public address system, megaphones, or other sound amplification equipment may be operated at any motor vehicle race track located within a one-mile radius of any residential housing on any day before 10:30 a.m. or after 10:30 p.m., except for Sundays and in the case of an emergency. On Sundays, no such equipment may be operated before 10:30 a.m. or after 7:30 p.m."
I think the 10pm on weekdays is reasonable. So what is with the earlier shutdown on Sunday? Kids have to get up for school?
People have to go to work? No different than any other day of the week.
We need to email our state officials to voice our objections (calmly),
and point out that assemblyme Panter and Morgan are mis-directed
and un-realistic. We also need to get the message out to every business that might be affected by the loss of racetrack activities.
This affects not only Etown, but every other racerack in NJ, and not just dragstrips.
Also, email Panter and Morgan. I already have.
