Default How flat is flat?

I'm writing a project paper on the 1/4 mile and cannot for the life of me find any information regarding how IHRA or NHRA certifies tracks.

So.... anyone have the requirements?

Most are 60ft wide.

I was thinking that 1% grade over the lenth was resonable, but then it dawned on me that this equates to 13.2ft over a quarter mile, os maybe not. I also assume that most require a concrete launch pad like 120ft? although most tracks are upgrading to 300+ feet.

I email and voicemaild both organizations and have got no response.

Specifics:

Minimum Length w/ Shutdown:
Minimum Length for Pre Stage:
Maximum grade deviation start to finish:
Maximum Grade deviation middle to side:
Road Construction: (8" base 3" Topcoat?)
Minimum Concrete Pad length:
Minimum Concrete side barriers:

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Here is a link to a recent track built in our neck of the woods.

If you need more, I would contact them directly..........they should have all that data at their fingertips

The only spec I know is that the prestaged and staged beams are to be 7" apart. There has a tolerance (+ or -) to that spec. Give a call to the "New Crew", thay should be able to answer your questions. Unless they get the idea you are building a track to compete with them.

RACE ON!!!
