If your racing at a track, drop the air pressure in the rear tires to 20-25 lbs (play around with it until you find out what works best for you).
As for racing on a strip or on the street...
Since the car has an automatic you can hold the brake down 100% (with left foot) and hold the gas slightly down (with your right foot). Hold the gas pedal down to give you extra rpm's but NOT enough to start the tires spinning. When the light turns green, release brake and punch the gas.
Thats what I used to do with my AT camaro before I bought the 4sp vette.
