to bolt to Vortec head's .. Anybody done it at home ???? and how

I think the ports are raised a bit on the vortec heads and a non vortec manifold would not match up quite right.

It's worse than a mismatch. With some stock intakes, the port is left open to the atmosphere. Even the outer edge of the casting doesn't cover the port in the head.

Don't try it. Better to buy a vortec specific intake.

My brother did that once... didn't work out quite like he wanted it too..better to just get the intake that matches the heads

it's a Edelbrock Streetmaster it looks fairly thick,, guess i'll just have to mock it up and see

Even if the port isn't open to the atmosphere, and I think it will be, you will have a nasty mismatch and not enough metal in the manifold to cure it.
