I recently had a pro charger supercharger installed on my car. It makes a howling almost grinding noise and they say it is normal. It sounds like a bad bearing to me but they say that is the normal noise? Anyone with experience? help?
Should only make a slight whine at idle. At full boost, maybe more of a squeal, but not in a bad way. Hard to describe, but not a grinding noise by any stretch.

The d1X I had sounded like a loud bad alt.. If that is the sound you are hearing you are OK.
Yes, it sounds like **** in my opinion. I have a P1SC procharger. It does sound like a loud bad alternator at idle.
I took it in and they say it is normal. I think it seriously sounds like a bearing is about to go. Almost like a bad alternator as blown vette pointed out.
My sons and I have installed both Prochargers and Vortec's on verious cars and the Procharget is by far the louder of the two. It will lose a little noise as the gears wear in, but not much. We've had one on a 69 Z28 for about three years now and it still draws a lot of attention at traffic lights, or anytime it is running. On the other hand, my sons Vortec equipped Stang after four years is quiet enough that sometimes you hardly hear it. But noisy or quiet, both have a fun factor that surpasses any noise factor. Hershey
