Default 391 Sbc

Well, my 400SBC project is trashed. I had it bored .040" over with a Scat 9000 crank, Eagle LW 6" rods, KB Hyper pistons-everything internally balanced. Well, my buddy trashed the #1 cylinder, so it's back to the drawing board. I'm considering a 391 buildup-I just don't really want a 383(nothing against it, but I want something different). I have a Howard's small base circle HR 236/242 duration; 535/555 lift w/ 1.5 RR's. My heads are aluminum ProTopline 200cc/64cc's, Air Gap intake, full MSD ignition(6A,distributor,coil). I plan to use 6" rods and internal balance again. Any of you guys have a 391? Oh yeah, my pan was custom made, but I think the rails are for a stock motor. In other words, is the added stroke of the 391 going to require a different pan? How much clearancing is the block going to need? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Why not just find another 400 block? All this custom stroking, oddball clearancing parts mismatching gives you a SMALLER engine anyway. Cubes is what makes the power.

Clearancing and other work for a smaller motor doesn't seem like a good idea to me, unless you can't find a 400ci block
