Has anyone used these. I'm looking at www.techlinecoatings.com for my headers. I have everything to spray the headers, I just wonder how well the DIY coatings work. Any ideas/opinions?
I know a guy who has used similar products, Ceramakrome, and it looks just as good a Jet-Hot. The only problem is that you need an oven to cure it. You can't use your kitchen oven, as it makes a horrible smell, and probably dangerous fumes. That seems to be the only problem with the DIY kits though.
Yeah, I have access to a big non-food oven. Although, the FAQs on that site suggested their black coating for the best heat retention. Looks are off little concern, so I was thinking of the black coating. It's actually air cured. If I go this route, has anyone sen this stuff for less than $50 for 12 oz?
I bought some of the Ceramakrome from Techlines, and like Monty says it does exactly the same thing as JetHot's coating does, and it will gag a magot off a gut wagon while cooking.
It goes on pretty good and bakes to a rough looking primer gray color. Then you have to polish it with steel wool to get it to shine. It shines really nice and looks about like JetHot's stuff.
It sure is cheaper if you have the means to bake it at 500 degrees for an hour.
I'm torn - I'm sure this stuff is as good as the other coatings, but it might be worth $100 extra for someone else to prep it and spray the inside of the primaries. I hate lining other's wallets though.
