I don't know why I even have an 02 sensor in my car...Mine runs in Open Loop all the time. I have a USED Bosch Sensor that's perfectly fine(I forgot the part number) I could sell you. It's a three wire connection..and an LPE part number. It tests fine.. I'm sure you remember that whole shebang I had going a few months back. Anyway.. make me an offer, and I can get it out to you if you'd like it. It's sitting in my garage being a place for mosquitos to land currently!

Jake, drop by an Auto Zone and ask for Bosch # 13190, it the cheapest heated O2 sensor they have with wires long enough to easy work in most installs/headers in Vettes...
black to computer, header is groung ref....and two white wires, one to ground on engine block, other to either fuel pump +12 or ignition +12....I have full length headers and it works like a charm....heats up in less than a block in summer, and reads nice with my cyberdyne a/f gauge....
LOL damnedifiknow! Something about the 'puter is running off of voltage settings...not 02? One guy said I shouldn' even have the 02 in there...? what I do know is the car runs FINE now.
Who said you shouldn't be running off the O2? Running off voltage settings? This all sounds like BS. It might be running fine, but is it running right?
Is a heated O2 sensor necessary with the installation of a custom tuned after market chip? I would think the computer at least in a 90 would control the same things, but maybe not. Otherwise It would appear as though Ill be needing to add this to my list as well.
Paul
For the 02 sensor to provide A/F data the ECM can use to adjust injector 'on' time, it must reach and maintaina temperature of at least 600 degrees F.
When long tube headers are installed, the sensor is typically moved downstream about 18"/24". This additional distance apparently is just enough to allow the 02 temp to cool to below the required 600 degrees. When the ECM detects this, it reverts to open loop mode.
I bought JD's heated 02 sensor (thanks JD) but now I need to know the wiring procedure.
The sensor has two white wires and one black one; which one is for what?
Can someone help me out on this?
Disregard. I found the wiring procedure using Google. Black to sensor; one white to ground and the other to a switched 12volt source. Doesn't matter which white is used for power or ground.
Guess it's 'jack her up' and heat up the ole soldering iron time now.
