I am currently trying to adjust my WOT shift points. I purchased a new governor and my WOT shift points are at 5500 rpms. I need to get them to about the 4900/5000 rpms range.
I have the B&M governor kit. I weighed the 2 stock inner weights are they are 9.6 and 9.8 grams.
Now, my question is should I start by replacing 1 of the inner weights with the B&M inner weight ? I am going to use the 11.3 gram B&M weight.
I used the B&M governor kits in my 700R4. Leaving one side of the governor alone I swaped out the spring and weight on the other side. With a scale I found the B&M weight that was close to the stock weight and match the stock spring to that of the B&M spring. This combo was used to set the base line and adjustments were made from there. The weights are for coarse rpm adjustment and the springs are for the rpm fine adjustments.
Instead of goofing around. I just got it from Art Carr for @ $35. So now I have two a 7000 and a 5250. Street tires can't handle the higher rpm one and streetability of my original 6500 was lacking. my tv cable is set to just under 240 lbs at WOT. they get brutal above 250 lbs
The pipe plug mid way on tranny on the drivers side is where you get the pressure reading. I just installed a $20 dollars 300 lbs gauge with a pipe thread flex line. you then adjust the tv cable by dropping the pan and adjust the plunger. Once your set up. Race mode is simple I just open the hood and zip on an additional 8 inch zip tie or two to the end of the cable for instant more tension and just snip them back of for the drive home.
