Installed a Super Ram in my 391 vette but when I start the car it runs like crap
Seems to be running rich because there is black smoke coming out of the exhaust. Thought it was the 9th injecter so I pluged it, but it's the same. Can't find where else it would be leaking. The SP was installed outside of the car while rebuilding my 391 engine,I thought this would help with the leaks, but guess not  PLEASE HELP THANKS
Re: Super Ram problems Need Help PLEASE (vettewally)
If there is a vacuum leak you will have a high idle. Does it idle up above 1200rpm? If not I doubt your problem is a vacuum leak.
My latest SR install ended up with a major vacuum leak at the runner to plenum junction. I had to pull the damn plenum and replace the gaskets. I hate that **** SR intake....
IT is possible to bolt 2 of the runners on the wrong sides and this will give you a vacuum leak. You might try laying a bead of the silver RTV along the intake manifold/heads to see if that stops the problem temporarily. that will tell you if you have a leak there

I'm far from being the expert, but doesn't a vacuum leak create a lean condition? Could their be a problem with the injectors themselves? Like not cycling properly? Just a thought.
Re: Super Ram problems Need Help PLEASE (vettewally)
Mine runs rich all of the time, typically do to weather changes, whereas in good air my motor wants more fuel, but when the air jumps up to a 2500 ft DA, I have to back down on fuel pressure, otherwise I'll get a small amount of black smoke under wot, and it smells real rich standing behind the motor. Right now with 24lb injectors on my 383 I have fp set at 42 psi...
