Took an immediate halt today. Out of the blue with no warning, myself and about 185 people out of 200 got laid off today. So, the needless to say, I probably won't be finishing it anytime soon. I've got a meeting with an Executive Search Firm (headhunter) tomorrow, and am working with a couple more. Sounds like a soft job market out there though....They say life goes on.
Sorry to hear that. There's alot of that going on in my area too. Hang in there- it's just a matter of time before something will come through for you.
:( sorry about that monty. we just got through a round of layoffs, and i was lucky (?) to make it through. what sucked was they strung us out for a month, maybe 6 weeks, three times said we'd be notified next week, then when they finally notified people they got a month "at risk" to find a job, and maybe at the end of the month still have their old one.
But, and this is the part you might be interested in, the people who are at risk are starting to interview and be excited about the new opportunities. some of the people not at risk have found jobs and are quitting too. the market seems to be picking up this month, compared to the past two months we've been looking.
if you want i've got a list of most of the job boards with "reviews" i can mail you.

Sorry to hear about that, but I'm sure you'll find something soon, and better, that's how change comes about, when least expected, just be positive, you'll be back on the road very soon.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. My company laid off about 20% of the workforce back in March, I had to tell 8 of them myself. We were told that the cuts were expensive enough to match costs with revenue for the remainder of the year. So, needless to say, yesterday's action was a huge surprise. Oh well, such is life in the IT business these days. What can you do, I was on the phone with 3 headhunters within 2 hours of getting the news that I worked with a couple of years ago. Got a meeting today with one of them and have sent out my resume to the other two. My wife is in technical sales, so she's out there networking for me with her contacts.
The car was suppsoed to go to the chassis shop this weak for headers and exhaust. At least now I'll have more time to investigate better side exhaust muffler options.
BTW, JCL, if you read this message, I know you replied to my email question regarding your sidepipe mufflers, would you mind posting your response here, or sending it to monty_williams@yahoo.com. The company networks were shut down yesterday and I couldn't open the email. Thanks!
Sorry to hear that. We have recently and are likely going through additional future layoffs at my company. Job security these days equates to your know-how, capability and marketability -- and unfortunately not from your company.
Good luck and I hope you land back on your feet in short order.
Sorry to hear your unfortunate news :( . Pretty scary when I was ready to go $14 K into dept for IT schooling for MSCE. The forum here talked me into buying some books and trying to learn what I can on my own first, just got my first book Monday. I'm sure everything will work out for you and your car will be as bada$$ as ever!
Monty:
Sorry and I hope your find a better one quick.

I am a MCSE and I did it self study...took me about six months to do using product manuals and a few books from the computer section of the book store. It is doable and way better than shelling out all the $$$$ for the courses.
