Default 1971 zz4 install

I just became the proud owner of a zz4 crate engine. It will be going into my 350 4 speed vert.
Is there anything else over and above the following I will have to get to make the swap?
1) new Flywheel
2) new mellonized distributer gear
3) reuse existing waterpump
4) existing Quad carb
5) existing starter
6) new clutch and pressure plate
?
?

How about the temp sending unit? I've read from time to time, that getting one that is in sinc. with the gage is a problem.
It also looks like I need a bushing/bearing in the end of the crank for the transmission.
First time doing a engine swap, so excuse the questions if they seem basic.
Also, I plan on using my Quadrajet(new). The carb has a devorsed choke and the zz4 manifold doesn't look like it will accept that without some sort of plate or block. Does anyone make such a thing?

Default mods for zz4 install

Not sure if your car uses a short or long water pump. If you use the short, you may have clearance issues with one bolt on the plastic timing cover (as I recall, it's the bolt at about 10 oclock on the cover.) If you do, you can grind that bolt down or go to a steel cover.
The intake hole for your temp sensor may be a smaller NPT and have to be drilled and tapped one size up.
Probably have to do a bit of trimming on the flywheel dust cover for the one pc. rear seal.
Happy to see that you already replaced them butt ugly valve covers.
Replace the side water jacket plugs with radiator drain fittings, makes a complete drain/flush a lot easier and the brass won't rust internally like the plugs will.
Depending on your chosen headers you could open the ports up to fit the D port exhaust passages better.

Great motor choice, you'll love it.

Daffy,
Thanks for the response. Those valve covers are ugly. Eventually I am going to replace the chrome center bolt covers with the older 4 bolt. They just seem to look nicer to me.

If you have a short water pump, buy the Edelbrock aluminum pump. It is ground to clear the timing cover. Your stock exh. manifolds will not work with the D port heads. Sanderson headers has several sets of headers that work well for this job.
