I have a 67 427/435 modified tri power with aluminum heads.
I had to pull my side pipe headers off to replace the motor mounts and noticed that on the header tube for cylinder #7 about 2 or so inches down below the header flange I have a very small crack in the tube. All other tubes are fine. The crack is very small (finger nail size) and I think the crack is developing around the tube and towards the header flange.
So my question- is there any metal patch that I can place on the inside of the tube where the crack is to seal it and stop the crack? I have some permatex metal repair stuff for this purpose and says it can handle 2000 degrees. The crack is so small you cant even see it....really dont want to start welding on these headers at this point....
Any suggestions? Thank for reading this post and your ideas.
