It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it appears the retainers made some pretty serious contact with a few of the rockers. Someone had a bad day and/or didn't bother to check for rocker/retainer contact, coil bind, etc.
If the aluminum is worn or damaged I wouldn't use them, if it's just a matter of the gold finish being rubbed off it's debatable. Considering the cost of replacing a few rockers out of the set, that might be a worthwhile consideration, but it looks like over half the set is damaged in some way. Crane Golds are pretty common, so I wouldn't think you'd have a hard time finding replacements. It's just a matter of how much you would end up saving versus the cost of a new set.
Thanks for the advice on the rockers.
They're not even heavy enough to use as a boat anchor or door stop, so maybe I'll keep them back for spares if I start racing.
gkull (I've got this posted in C3 Tech as well) mentioned that because these rockers are meant to take such high lift and pressure, that my cam (XE268H) and pressure requirements are low enough that this probably won't make any difference.
What do you guys think?

I like posting here, largely because I don't think many of you get over to C3 Tech, and roller rockers are somethin many different generations use.
This is what i replied on the C-3 forum. I also wish that you would put your camera on Macro focusing on just the worst one. Little wimpy 268 cam might make those things last 10 years.
Those rockers are built to take on big 240+ pound closed pressure solid roller cams. With that thought in mind and the fact that it's worn on the non-pressure side of the roller tip. I would just clean them up and use them on any mild cammed street motor.
You did get screwed if you paid good money for them. But if they roller tips seem solid and your running sub 200# closed just go for it!
Sorry about the pics...I blame the Brother in law, he took the pictures, and wouldn't let me touch the camera. Generally he's pretty good. Guess its time to get one of my own.
