Whats a crate motor with good performence but not too expensive? I need a new engine soon since my old one threw a rod. Around 2500-3000 is probably the best range. My 91 is an auto with everything stock.
buy a ZZ4 partial and then get a nice performance cam...
or get the ZZ4 complete.. You will need to reuse your Dist, Water Pump and intake on the complete ZZ4, it is sold for a Carb set-up. The ZZ4 complete uses the same heads you have now. depending on Miles you may want to have the current heads redone. if you buy the complete ZZ4 you can then sell your Original heads to recover some of the cost.
I think Sallee Chevrolet might sell you a complete ZZ4 minus the Intake, Distrib, and Water pump. since they will not work on your Vette. With that you get a little better cam then stock
Ramjet 350, also sold at just about every GM Performance Parts dealer.
Here is a link to Pace Parts site for the Ramjet 350
The index for all their crate engines is at Pace Performance
Good Luck

Re: New crate motor for my 91 (vettes rule)
One sold with a fuel injection setup on it, like the RamJet 350
Since you already have the fuel injection setup, you don't need it.
Most crate motors come with an induction manifold for a carburator.
You just take it off and sell it.
Then use the manifold & distributor off you old motor.
Don't know if it applies in your area, but before you buy ANY new motor, consider your local smog laws. It's all well and good for people all over the country to tell you what to buy, but then they don't have to register it for you now do they?
I didn't think you could add the stock fuel injection parts to the ZZ4, pretty cool. If I was to get the ZZ4, should I go with new fuel injection parts or just the old if possible? About how much could I expect for the induction manifold, around $100? Is there a market for my stock parts that were not damaged?
I don't think that there is any smog laws here but I'll check.
