Default Exhaust pipe inserts

I've got a real tight exhaust problem - no room for any decent mufflers.
I know some here have used spiral turbo inserts and have requested length dimensions for their street rod inserts. Has anyone used the Car Chemistry inserts for their pipes?

Thanks for any help,

Daffy

If you are talking about side pipes, go over to the C3 section. Several guys over there have side exhaust.

No, not looking at sidepipes. My son and I put a ZZ4 into a Fiero and are looking for any feedback on Spiral Turbo or Car Chemistry inserts. We have no room for a big muffler and want to build the muff into the pipes as we finish the system. I posted here because this forum has a vast amount of experience with unique installations and performance mods.
BTW, I have stock 2.5 sidepipes on my '64 coupe and when dyno runs indicated that they were restrictive, I "Y'd" in another set of undercar
2" pipes and mufflers (used all original brackets and locations but kept the tips pretty hidden.) This quieted the sidepipes and picked up about 8 hp.

I ran the car chemistry inserts with the three plates in my headers on a dual 3 inch exhaust with Borla XR1's on my old 383 C4 vette combo. They may have knocked a dB or three off... but not enough to be street legal by any means. I yanked both and put some edelbrock RPM mufflers on.

In my opinion the Car Chemistry inserts are a waste of money. They would work on a race only car (think trailered car) that was just a little too loud to meet the sound requirements of the race track. The other brand with the perforated cone shape are very similar in usefulness.

What you might be able to do is use a couple of bullet mufflers in line to help a lot. Or just put a restrictive system on and install an electric cut out at the same time!

Thanks for the responces. I learned that inserts are not a viable option and we're going to start with a pair of glasspacks and finish our project and get it on the road knowing that we'll probably have to make adjustments later. The system will start out as 2.5" all mandrell bent with a pair of 12" bullets. We don't care if it's too loud, just hope we don't have too much "rap" from the 'packs.
