Hello everyone! This is my first post here. This really seems to be an excellent site. I have a question about nitrous. My '63 is being rebuilt and is almost finished after I wrecked it. The engine is a 327 completly rebuilt. I went with the Edelbrock Power pak w/ the alum. heads and RPM air gap manifold. The cam is much bigger though. Everything is forged aluminum except the block and crank. I also went with the 150 hp nitrous setup. It is set up that it must be armed and then will only come at WOT. My question is: How should I run this at the dragstrip. Should I arm it at the lights or down the track? I don't want my engine to :U if I attempt to run it for the entire 1/4 mi. Any suggestions? Thanks alot, Classic
Arm it after the burn out. You will not have time to remember to arm it later. Come out with it on. Later once you are rolling if you want to disarm it then you will have the time. The launch is everything so use the nitrous to your advantage. I have set up alot of 100HP setups and they don't harm engines. No need at 100HP for different timing, plugs or dedicated fuel system. At 150HP you might need to retart the timing slightly and colder plugs. Try the 50 as suggested then stay with 100 to be safe.
