Engine Bogging past 50% throttle
I just did an engine swap in a 92 toyota corolla. The old engine died and we picked up a junkyard engine for about $300. I'm pretty sure I've got it all back together correctly, I'm not 100% sure about the vacumme lines, but the major stuff is all there.
The car starts fine and will rev to redline if I just push the throttle in a little bit. But if I slam the throttle down the car boggs and won't go above 2200 rpm. I let the car warm up some more and try and burn off all the junk on the exhaust manifold. I tried it agian and this time it went up to 3k. So I decided to let it sit for a while more warming up/burning in. After that I tried it again and it would slowly raise the rpm from 3k to redline.
When you slowly push in the throttle there's definately a point where it is fine and then bogs. I tried this in drive as well as neutral to make sure it wasn't an over rev feature and it did the same thing. The check engine light also came on, but I haven't been able to figure out how to pull the codes yet, Haynes manuals suck. I think I'll see if I can get it to an auto zone this afternoon and have them pull the codes.
If anybody has any kind of thoughts on which direction to start out trying to fix this I'd appreciate it. The car belongs to my cousin and she's one of those poor college students and needs to get the car back as soon as possible. Thanks guys.
