Default Head Casting # 462624

Are these heads a waste a time for me if I'm trying to build up a 300-350 horsepower 350. Should a stash them away and go aftermarket or could they work with the right cam and intake combo. If it matters I'm running 3:55's at the back end with a stock tranny. Thanks all! :seeya

Look up the flow numbers in the link above.

I've seen lots of bracket cars running those heads and the 461's and 041's with some port work, a valve job, decent cam, and running 12's and 11's.

Those are the same numbers my 79 L82 had, and my 78 Silverado had them too...

THey are a generic unleaded gas head, the L82 version had 2.02/1.60 valves and screw in studs, the truck head did not have either.

Those are lightweight emission heads w/ irregular intake ports. Others rec. !

Ganey is right, they suck, on the intake the boss for the valve cover bolts is in the way and on the other side the pushrod hole so you can't port match, the chamber design is very poor....better get some other heads if you plan on doing a rebuild.
Shaving is out of the question on almost all of them, they have such thin decks that even a minor shave will compromise head gasket seal on the exhaust side
