Transmission problem--Please help
I posted this in the C5 section also. Can someone with transmission knowledge help me diagnose this problem. I have a friend who has 98 corvette, automatic. The other night he was out and about and got into a race with a mustang. He beat the guy, went around and chatted for a while, and went home, no big deal. The next morning he went out and the car would not engage into reverse. He says that it feels like there are two neutral gears and that it will engage into the foreword gears, just no reverse. Anyone have any ideas?

According to the shop book there could be several things wrong. It requires a transmission shop that knows that transmission. I can't recommend in Dallas, I sent my to Chicago because I needed my transmission to be built to handle some serious power. I had nothing but bad experience around here.

I just wanted to update everyone on the problem. We took it to the dealer and they are telling us the "reaction shell" needs to be replaced. It is responsible for reverse and overdrive. I know someone from the forum e-mailed me and said they had the same problem but I have never heard of a "reaction shell". What is it???
