Default Extra Space

Hi

I have two questions that if possible I would like to find the answers for and save me from having to 'buy and try" to find out what works best.

1. When all is said and done with my install I will have at least 5/8' space between the top of the air cleaner and the bottom of the hood. Do you think I would be better off using the space with an additional 1/2 inch air cleaner element or with 1/2 inch spacer under the carb? (I am using a dual plane Brodix). I have the rain guards in the bubble removed but I question how much air is getting in with a standard air cleaner

2. Does anyone have any knowledgeable comparison between the cleaner lids such as K&N Xtreme with the breathable top over the standard solid ones? Their advertisement sounds logical but I would much rather hear from one of you if possible?

I had thought about picking up a Vic Jr single plane and seeing what the differences in numbers would be because I could (I think) make it fit with some mods. However after reading ML67 comparison on the tri power thread the real world gains to be made are questionable and the cleaner lid would hit the hood. If I was able to do as the 67's can and install a cowl induction system I would have and then used the Vic Jr instead.

Thanks

Doug
