Carburetor question - rich idle.

Thank you very much.
Clem,
I am running "mash" kind of air filter but I can't tell what the differance is because I did not make it to the track yet. I want to make all the adjustments first and than if time allows me I might still go this year to the track.
Lars,
I have set the secondaries per spec before I put the carburetor on the intake. I was reading this Chevy High Performance magazine and it was talking about that specific adjustment.
My distributor is not operated by vacum. It's mech advanced and is set to 12 deg and about 34 advanced.
I am going to speed shop tomorrow and planning to pick up the reusable set of the gaskets and 4 hole spacer. I don't want to bolt the carb directle because my power brakes are taking vacum from intake and w/out the spacer it will not clear.
I will go with the original sets of jets until I get all the bugs out of it.
Thanks again
Ziggy
That's amazing how much more vacum you were able to get out of it just by tunning and playing with it.
I will be spending my Saturday on it and will fallow all the instructions that I got here. I will defenatly go back to the 71 - 80 jets before adjusting anything alse. Just the note: my carb also have 4 corners idle speed adj screws and my car is also automatic. There's big drop in the idle when I put in drive (about 300 rpm). Again I hope that after this weekend things will be much better and I will be able to drive w/out choking and poping :yesnod:
Thanks
Ziggy
PS,
this will be hot rod when I am done with it
