Has anyone had an experience with this particular setup? The propaganda from ATI makes it seem like a perfect product. Has anyone had a chance to install/tune this configuration.
For the record, I am considering this for a 327 to help makeup for the lack of cubic inches.
Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (J Winkeler)
J Winkeler, My son and I put an ATI and intercooler on a 69 Z28 with a ZZ4 in it. We used the universal installation kit and purchased their 650 double pumper set up for blower. Installation was as easy as they advertised. It took approx. 8 hours to complete. We did find that if you call the help line and talk to different tech persons you will get conflicting answers. Also when dialing the setup in the suggested jetting was way too rich. I know with a blower you want to start out rich and work your way down. But we were able to zero in on correct jetting in about 3 changes. Turns out that was only about 4 jet sizes up from what was origionally in the carb. We did this for a local Doctor so we were not limited on funds. We put a sump in the rear of the tank and then ran two braided lines from the tank to the fuel regulator, and then to the carb. The results of this project are fantastic. It is very streetable and fun to drive and when you get on it, what a ride. Of course the added power has led to our adding comp. eng. traction bars, 3 inch exhaust, subframe connectors, and now drag radials. Oh yes, forgot to mention also had to order pullys to bump up the POWER. Never ends does it? Hershey
Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (J Winkeler)
What year Vette is this going into?
I had purchased their D1 a few years ago and realized it wouldn't fit in my 72 unless I did things like cut the fender, cut the hood and bulge it, remove the powerbrake booster, notch the crossmember, etc...so I decided even if I could get it to 'fit' it would probably never be right. So I wound up sending it back which they didn't make easy.
I did talk to one guy who installed the P1 on his 77 and said it fit fine.
Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (StingrayRacing)
This procharger would be going into a 1965 Coupe. I figured that the trouble spots would be at the front of the engine (induction between Carb and SC), but without hard measurements it is impossible to tell. The engine is in the planning stages, so far now it doesn't cost anything to try something new.
Thanks for the heads up about the other potentially 'tight' spots.
Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (J Winkeler)
You know...there is a 66 for sale on the C2 for sale forum that has an ATI Procharger on a carbed motor, although it is a 454. Here is the link http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=164898 . He had to cut a hole in his hood to fit the ductwork in there, although I am not sure if you would have to or not with a small block. Maybe you should email him and ask him about it.
Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (J Winkeler)
I have a 600b ati blower on my 86 vette. I want to switch to carb and wouldn't mind keeping the blower in place. How much for te special carb and carb hat?

Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (J Winkeler)
I was getting curious about a supercharger on a carbed engine. I was wondering how much it would add? Is it hard to tune? Do they surge? I would love more power with out yanking the motor again. I don't think it would fit in my case. There is a carb enclosure avalible that seems like a good idea. If anyone has done this I still am interested in what was involved. http://www.vortechsupercharger.com/y...carb_encl.html
Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (INMYBLOOD)
Thats a nice looking boc. It seems a little inefficient in its design. The blower hats that I have scene are simple designs that slip over where you would normally mount the air filter. This box has the entire carb surrounded.
Re: ATI Procharger Carbed version questions (Red5)
Red5, those enclosures were first used in the 50's and 60's on production Studebakers and Ford factory equiped with Paxton superchargers. The extra pressure put out by superchargers tended to blow gaskets and fuel out of the carbs, so enclosing them equalized the pressure inside and outside the carb. My understanding is that today they are only necessary with real high boosts. Ati sells carbs with mods to equalize pressure under boost or supplies directions to modify a Holly yourself. We used the carb modified be ATI and it worked well, but on one occasion when the top hat wasn't on tight enough you could really see it blowing fuel out the carb vent. Hope this helps. I say just do it like this.:):):):):) If you have any questions, which I am sure you do, e-mail me and I will give you my phone number. We can discuss this in some more detail. I have installed 5 procharger set-ups. I am just finishing up my own project as we speek.
Will, I think I know your # pretty well by now. Matter of fact, we need to start tearing this beast apart. I want to have my car completely taken apart by the time you get yours together. That way I don't have to pull up beside 900 hp at a light.
Just remember........ I OWN THE HOLE SHOT! ALWAYS HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL! :smash: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :smash:
