Default Double pumper

As I can't ever leave anything alone, I would like to try a double pumper Holley. Current 327 set up is a 670 SA, Edelbrock heads, 10.25 CR, mild cam and 2.5 inch stock headers. Not so much interested in MPG or a tenth one way or the other at the track but about the feel and sound. In other words the "fun" factor. Any thoughts?

A positive side is that they are easy to start with that double shot of gas, no choke necessary. I use them but with a ton of HP, and I woiuld not recommend one for a low HP Vette.

but, whatever. very popular right or wrong.

The idea of going along at 2000 rpm in first and throwing open all 4 holes sounds like it could be fun. With the 670, the lightest secondary spring, there is no bog when seconday opens with this motor. With the al heads, manifold, plastic spring and no spare, the car is about 3000 Lbs. I need to figure size, 600, 650 or 700 seem to be in the ballpark.

for a 327, I wouldn't go bigger than the 600 CFM double pumper. I had a 600 CFM on my 350 and it was a blast for driving around.

I'm running a 575 Speed Demon Mech and it's plenty of carb for my 30 over 327 w/ Brodix heads, 10CR and a hyd roller cam w/ 220 duration.

I love the sound of 4 barrels and sidepipes....

UPDATE

Well I got a Quick Fuel Technology 650. It sure seems to wake up the old girl. My unofficial 1/8 mile entrance ramp to overpass speed went from 80 mph to almost 90. Wish I got a DP years ago, great fun.
