What do I have?
My car seems to be performing on par with the 427/390s at this altitude, and I was curious as to what the internals actually are. FYI, the engine is the original L-46 block and heads. The bellhousing back to the rear brakes is also numbers matching...
Any help would be great. :smash:
Cylinder heads-check casting numbers/pull intake to see if ports are modified.
Crank-pull oil pan to see if cast or forged. May be able to tell if pistons are forged or cast by the way the bottoms look-compression is anyones guess.
Camshaft-pull the timing cover and sometimes the cam manufacturer will put the serial number on the end behind the timing chain.
Bottom line is the previous owner or shop who built the engine is best source without a ton of labor...
:)
