So long Art Carr trans
When I called about the first trans they asked me what the dyno sheet showed for the shift point, What dyno sheet? Can't read what they don't send.
They sent a second built to order trans to swap out under warranty. Got the trans, Still no dyno sheet for the second trans they said they would mail me. brought the Vette to work (I'm a dealer mechanic) to do the swap on my saturday off. Removed the first Art Carr and removed No.2 from its shipping box put it right back in. :mad :mad :mad :mad :boxing :boxing :boxing
Needless to say both Art Carr 700R4s are on a truck and I'm gettting a full refund, almost 3k.
I'm taking the original trans in get rebuilt at a local performance builder. That I read about in Corvette fever magazine, Toy Shop Transmissions. The owner used to work for GM in there tranny department and is charging half the price :D
I'm sorry Art Carr has such a good rep but screwed up twice. The people are very helpfull over the phone. And didn't give me a hard time when I called about the second trans, But customer service doesn't do any good when my C4 is sitting at work with a big hole behind the engine where a tranny should be. Luckily my boss was there and saw the new tranny seal and is letting me keep my car on the lot instead of having to tow it home for $90 to tow it back $90 again to put the trans back in. Even better I'm glad I didn't sell my VW so I don't have to walk to work. :mad
