zz383 mechanical fuel pump
I've got an Edelbrock fuel pump from my old engine (2 piece rear seal block made in 1974) that I'd like to reuse if possible. My mechanic says the GM Performance Parts ZZ383 will not work with a mechanical fuel pump yet it looks like it has the stuff for one but it is just covered with a plate. I read somewhere that you just need a different pump rod and you are good to go. Is this right? Would anyone know a manufacturer and part number of whatever it is I'm missing?

Yep, the cam is compatible with a mechanical pump. It turns out they thought the block didn't have the pump rod hole so they recommended an electric pump. I had them double check and they said my old pump would indeed work.
