what does a .005" do?
I have a 402ci, but am not sure what the original specs were, but had to bore out the cylinders to .005"....I think originally they were .002", but had to bore out to .005" to fit the new pistons.
What does this actually do? I am not engine savy and was just wondering on what this does to the overall HP (if any) on a vehicle.

Could be a couple reasons for this , such as to clean up the cylinder to accommodate the new pistons or to remove the ridge that occurs at the top of a cylinder. But as stated above by knight you need exact information, as little as 0.005 is, it can make or break an application
