I'm looking at buying new pistons for my ride. Currently I have a 383, with a big solid roller.. and I'm putting on AFR 210 race heads that have a camber of 69ccs.
As the heads are know. I have looked at different pistons and here is what I found.the choose of
11.8 with a .200cc dome.
10.8 with a .100dome,
9.8 with a flat top pistons
Or should I mill my heads to a smaller cc and use a flat top pistons? Which will make more power?
Thanks.. Again..
Shane
Re: help me with my compression! (underpressure87)
Your user name suggests the motor has a blower.Does it? Also can you post your cam specs? The cam alone can help decide what compression you need. Also what are using for induction?
I haven't picked out a cam yet! I'm thinking of one that goes up to 7200rpm and it has something like 244 and 255 duration at .50. Some where in the 600 range for my lift.
The car is not going to be turbo charged anymore since I got a really good deal on the afr heads race heads and there much to big for my little turbos.

Re: help me with my compression! (underpressure87)
I would use the flat top pistons and mill the heads to increase compression. Flat tops will make a little more power than the domes due to the flame travel. Depending on deck height, and head gasket thickness, 60cc should get you around 11.5:1. I am running 11.4:1 on pump gas with no problems.
Keep in mind that milling your heads may require you to mill your intake too, so it mates up right. And you're using race gas for that high compression version, right?
Are you planning on selling your twin turbo set up? Got any pictures and specifics?
Yea.. I need to sell those turbo kits. It is basicly 2 single turbo kits that I bought that I was going to adapt both to my car to make it a twin turbo. On kit is complete and the other is just a turbo and exhaust manifold. But I decided I only wanted about 550 horse. Those 2 turbos are good for 500 horse each.. 2 of them would give me around 1000.. A little to much for me. I seen a guy who ran just the single turbo kit on a mild 350 chevy and got low 11 times..
If anyone is intrested I'll try to get pics of these kits!
