Default What is my original L-36 with tranny worth to sell

A freind of a friend wants to buy the 427 out of my car. I am running a 454 now. The motor is an original L-36 out of a 69 Vette (not mine) with tranny. The motor has 7,000 mile on a fresh rebuild. The heads are all new parts (less Than 100 miles) hardened valve seats etc. The tranny is also out of a 69 vette (M-20) what would be a fair deal for the whole lot. The guy has a 69 Chevelle he wants to put it into, the 69 factor plays with him. Any opinions?

Best guess, around $3000-$3500 for the 427 and $500-$750 for the M20, if they've both been rebuilt. There aren't many buyers for the L36 at that price though, since it's a 2 bolt low performance engine. You will find one, but it will probably take time. You need someone looking for the "numbers". For the same price, you can get a nice 4 bolt 454.
