I bought a 61 with a 383 stroker motor that does not run well at all. The guy who put it in the car used hooker headers and the motor has brodex angle plug heads. The darn plugs are arcing all over the headers. Will peanut or header plugs help out with my issues (short term until I get it running well) or will I need to change the headers?
Anyone know of a low profile air filter that fits a 750 holly carb
andy,
If your plugs take a gasket than the "peanut plug" isn`t what you need BUT there is a plug from both Autolite and Champion that has the lg. (14mm) thread but takes a 5/8 plug socket. ...redvetracr
It is not realy the socket size that is in the way but the total length of the plug. With stock plugs the wires sit right on the headers and burn through then arc on the headers.
Jacobs Ignition sells ceramic spark plug boots which won't burn. You can buy just the boots, not the whole wire set. Accel sells short "header" spark plugs which are a little shorter.
Andy, You need to get on the Brodix web page and figure out the correct plug type. I would imagine that it uses 3/4 deep reach. I also use 1 3/4 hokers with angle plug heads I have always just used the best wires and looms to keep them away from hot pipes
You all are right thanks for the info! Is this site great or what? I also got on the Hooker site and I think the headers this guy put on the car are not for angle plug heads. I think I may need to change headers but I will try the get ceramic caps and special plugs that redvetracr and Corvette_Z51 spoke about.
