Default Engine building sources

Hi everyone been a while since I posted. I was wondering if anyone has any good advice on reference material for building chevy motors. small blacks preferably but I will take what I can get. I am deployed right now in the navy and can order books but obviously can't really get my hands dirty. Just wanted to read up first and get the basic knowledge before tearing a 350 apart.

Thanks guys for all your help

First of all thanks for your service, i suggest (how to rebuild the small block chevrolet) it"s a s-a design workbench book, has step by step directions on how to rebuild your sbc, has tons of pics, an after you"ve read it. You can go back to page one an start building your engine step by step. power secrets by smokey yunick is also a good book.

There are plenty of "How to" books for the small block chevy. For just rebuilding try David Vizard "How to rebuild the small block Chevy. This book goes over everything needed for just dissembly, inspection, and rebuild - no performance mods at all and a great instruction for the first time engine rebuilder.: :
Now for some performance mods try D. Vizard's "How to Build a High Performance small block Chevy on a budget". A favorite book for me.
But again there are several good books on the small block Chevy and u will find a little more info in each one u read.

Good luck and safe sailing,
