Default How much time to pull and install a TPI engine?

Using one guy (me) who has never pulled an engine, but familiar w/ it, and one old guy (g/f's father) who has pulled engines before, but has only seen a TPI engine twice (mine). We have all the appropriate tools and an engine hoist. Thanks.

really depends on how much of the engine is together. For example, I dropped in a Super Ram engine with the SR and rockers on and ready to go and this cut several hours off the install. I used long chains and several towels (to keep the SR finish safe from the chains) and this worked well. My new carb set up is much quicker. To really get it running, I'd budget a day. You'll likely need a part or hose or some other stupid item that is easily forgotten. Every trip to the parts store adds 30-45 minutes for me :( If you crack your power steering reservoir your pretty much screwed, too :( It took two days for my PSR (PSR can be substituted with Power Steering Reservoir or Piece of poopiee Reservoir... you pick) to arrive at the local dealer.

Really it's hard to say exactly how long it will take. Depends on you.
In my case it takes... lets see... Car broke on June 4th or 5th of 2001. Car first ran again for 1 minute on December 31st 2001. I changed a lot of parts and had to make some more money though :)

Good luck!

Cory

Could be done in a day but plan on three. That way you are not in a rush and there are no time constraints. You rush, you pay....From experience.... :yesnod:

A shop once told me their hourly rate manual says it takes 24 hours to R & R and engine. That does not allow for putting the new engine together, just pull one out, and install the new one

I will have to pull the intake from the old engine, but the new one will be short block w/ heads & rocker arms already installed. My guess was about 2 days. Thanks guys!
