Default Carb mod question.

My brother bought me a K+N filter top for x-mas. So I want to use it. I have minimal hood clearance. I put the lid on the carb stud with out the element in so I could check clearance between the lid and choke butterfly. None the lid is resting on the top edge of the butterfly. I know it has always been close. I am already happy with the 1/4 times I have and feel I could do better with more traction but more power is always good! :yesnod: So my question is would it hurt to mill off the choke tower? Or would it just mess it up? Most of the high performance carbs don't have one? I never use the choke anyway? I bet I would not notice an improvement anyway? SO should I cut it off or not. I was worried it has a dual purpose and that it helps straighten out the air flow into the carb????

No problem milling it off unless you drive a lot in cold weather. Mine without choke is finicky when cold, doesn't want to idle on a really cold day. If you have a manual choke and never pull it, then you won't notice any difference at all, except maybe slightly better airflow.
