Default Step 1

Dropped my 1974 454 Mark IV BBC off at the machine shop yesterday to get cleaned, align bored, honed to.060 with the use of a torque plate.
Also decked just to clean them up, no more.
Now I will be deciding on a rotating assembly.
I can't see going wrong with a Callies crank to start, but I have some very good grinders around here too!
I will post on occasion when things happen.

If I were you, I wouldn't have the block honed until the shop has the pistons in hand. That way, they can ensure the correct piston-wall clearance.

Also, I would have the deck surface cut to a specific height to work in conjunction with the rotating assembly and head gasket to get the right quench w/o custom gasket. Otherwise, quench could get goofy.

Thank you for the tips!
