Can some one refresh my memory
Most of Crane's that are street hydraulic rollers have a "IG" at the end of the cam number, which stands for Iron Gear.
If the cam is a steel billet, you need an aluminum/bronze gear.
GM roller cam crate motors and all their roller cams call for a melonized distributor gear which you get from the Chevy House. I have the part # tucked away somewhere if you need it.
To be sure, you should call the cam manufacturer.
I read a Tech article recently where this question was sent in and the Tech writer called MSD and they said when in doubt, use a aluminum/bronze gear.
Gets confusing doesn't it.
Be sure to let me know what you come up with. My roller's eating my distributors right now! TPIS told me to use a stock gear on their ZZ9, but the stock gear's gettin eaten alive.
