Can you tell me your experiences with the brodix -11 head with spread port.
I am having a set of -10 raised runner spread port exhaust heads ..from Weldtech.I am ordering Stahl headers 1 7/8 stepped to 2 " for my 87 corvette...these are direct fit.building a 436 ci small block miniram solid roller.
how did the brodix heads perform?
What stage of porting did you have?
How did you set up the headers for spread port? Clearance issues?
Recommendations?
What happens when; say your pistons are .020 down in the hole. You take .020 off the block deck (each side) to acheive a zero deck height. Does your intake now not fit? I mean you've moved the heads effectivley down .020, just thinking here. Would it just be better to install an .020 thinner head gasket? Wait, that moves the heads down also. Maybe I just answered my own question. Sure would be nice if the new pistons (L2256F30 TRW's) would sit at zero deck all by themselves. :) Could/does that happen?
Tom the Brodix -11's that I was going to put on my vette were right off of a alky Hilborn injected 360 ci sprint car. They had been ported by a race shop and the port finish was so fine that I wondered if they might have been done with some kind of extrusion hone method after final porting. The motor was dynoed at 674 hp with a broad TQ curve for 1/4 - 3/8s short tracks. Max rpm of 8000
I bought the Stainless plugs for the down port injectors and stopped right there. I never put them on my Vette. The main reason was cost. I already had nice 1 3/4 Hooker S/C headers and 3 inch catless dual exhaust system. I would have had to spend $1000 or so for headers like your getting or go pure custom. The other issue was the heads were all done up and refreshed with 230# 1.625 diameter triple springs for mid to upper .700 lift with titanium retainers. I would have to blow them apart for something more streetable.
Hind site is 20/20 I should have used them and just forgot about worring about cost and streetability. I sold them to another sprint car team that did pretty good last year.
