Getting ready to order the cam for my 427 small block build-up. The compression ratio is 10.7. Dart Pro 1 230 2.08/1.60 heads. Automatic transmission with 2800 stall. Air gap manifold with 825 cfm carb. Looking for about 540-560 HP. This is what I'm looking at:
Comp cam small base circle hydraulic roller 236I 242E .540I .562E with 1.5 roller or .576I .600E with 1.6's on a 112 LSA.
So what's the opinion, 1.5's or 1.6's or mixed. I'm going to give it a 200 shot of NOS so I'm lookin at all the exhaust lift I can get!
or does anyone have any other suggestions? Oh yeah 3.07 gears, propably going to a 9" when (not if) my Dana 36 goes, and run anywhere between 3.73 and 4.10's.
It's getting closer to being put together, so I appreciate any input I can get!
That's a lot of cam for those gears but the extra cubes will help tame it some. I wouldn't invest in new rockers until after driving it with the 1.5's. If you then feel that you can give up some low end in exchange for more peak power, go for it. Instead of going to a 9", consider a 44 instead. Besides all the hassles involved with converting to a solid axle, your tranny is more likely to fail before a 44 will. Once you've driven it with the 3.07's, you'll have a better idea of what final gearing you should go with.
