I do a leakdown test every winter when I put my car away. I loosen all the valves off for storage. To do a leakdown I install a special adaptor to the spark plug hole, I adjust the leak down gage to 100 spi and plug it into the cylinder by the spark plug adaptor. It then reads the amount of air that is added to maintain the 100psi. Mine is a very percision unit and accurately reads cfm added to maintain pressure. Most units just say percent leakdown. I prefer this to a comression test.
