Two quick questions, 1 I need opinions on and 2 I'm looking for any who've done it:
1. What's the "best" mini-starter to get? (72 small-block, modified of course: expecting about 390 HP, 420 ft-lb torque)
2. Have any of you installed the March serpentine best/pulley combo on a small block in a C3? How well did it work, any problems, solutions to problems, etc.?
Re: Two quick q's: Mini-starter and March serp setup (lyonsh)
I have an IMI mini starter on my 86 and a TCI mini starter on my 84. Both get the job done. I have the reduction pulley's on my C4, but no exp with a C3. Good Luck
Re: Two quick q's: Mini-starter and March serp setup (lyonsh)
I have a mini starter, don't know offhand what brand but got it from JEG's for about $150. I have a 10.5 to 1 383 motor and it does the job no problem. I love the mini starters, it saved me a ton of room to work in that area of the motor, you won't need a floor jack to install it and it doesn't weigh 500 freakin pounds like a stock one.
I have the March v-belt underdrive pulleys for 71-82 Corvettes, everyone said I would have charging and cooling problems. I have neither, my motor runs right at 180 degrees and all my lights are plenty bright. If you want pics go here; http://www.c3sharktank.com/tech2/383...3project2.html
