Currently on my big block is a Torker II intake. My buddy has a Weiand Team G intake that I could buy off of him if I was interested. I do not care about low end, I know I will probably lose some by changing intakes....I just want to optimize my 1/4 mile performance. Would I see any improvement in top end performance by changing from the Torker II to the Weiand Team G?
My heads are "206" heads that are ported very nicely, professionally blended bowls, 2.19/1.88 valves and gasket matched intake and exhaust ports. My buddy has a similar set of closed chambered heads that are heavily ported, bowls blended, gasket matched but they have 2.25/1.88 valves. Would it be worth it to change to these heads?
Lastly, I'm only running a 3/8" fuel line to my mechanical Holley fuel pump. It was recommended to me that I switch to 1/2" fuel line and a higher output fuel pump?
To answer your questions - Unless you plan on modifying your new hood the Team G intake will not fit under a stock L88 hood (been there/done that) you will be about a 1 - 1.5 inchs too short.
If you have open chamber heads currently on the motor, depending upon the dome in the piston you selected when you rebuilt yours, you will not be able to fit a closed chamber head on it.
As the previous post stated, the 3/8" line will work fine. We used 3/8" on a 482" drag car that was running low 9's. I'm sure it will work just fine with your current set up..
Thanks guys, the heads that are currently on the motor are closed chambered heads. By switching to my buddies heads I would be keeping pretty much the same compression ratio but getting larger intake valves (2.25s) and a little bit more porting (professionally done). The heads on my car currently are pretty well ported but they were opened up by the guy I bought them off of (not professionally).
Depends on the price and how nice porting. Didn't you put 2.19's in your heads? Either way, there will not be a huge increase from valve size on your motor. In fact valves in that range often become very shrouded in 4.250-.4.310 bore sizes and actually flow less.
Open chamber heads typically make a little more power than closed chambers especially if the compression stays the same with a little milling. But it ain't gonna feel like a bunch. Closed chamber 427-454's can easily run high 10's to mid 11's.
