Default going from flat tappet cam to hydraulic roller

as the title says, thats what I want to do and I was wondering if I can use the same rods I had? I'm going with the 282hr and just want to make sure it'll all fit before I go buy it today.

You will probably need a complete retrofit kit. Your valve lift will be so much more that new springs and pushrods will be needed. You might as well get all new. The kit will save money in the long run. Who wants to put old valvetrain on new engine? That is a big cam, what else will you run w/it?

humm...the only reason I'd see why I'd need new pushrods would be because the roller lifters are taller than the flat tappet. but now you're saying its because I'd have more valve lift? Can you please explain why it require new pushrods?

As for the cam, you are right...dunno why I said the 282. I'll be going with the 260 series...I tried the 266 in dyno2000 and it would fit perfectly. Dunno if its available tho...but around that would do fine.

I'm sorry for not being clear. You are right about pushrods. The springs will need to be changed due to increased lift. I recomend 1.6 rr to get even more lift from mild cam. I am running a 218-224 HR w/1.6rr. I have so much TQ that I seldom need to rev engine above 3500. I wanted BB power in SB package. I got what I wanted and then some. Just make sure you match the rest of your combo and you won't be sorry.

you will have trouble finding aftermarket hyd roller tappets as they have been on back order for months unless things have changed lately. :chevy

Lohkay - maybe call
http://www.martelbros.com Your going to need retrofit H-rollers with matching length pushrods and springs. It's not a big deal to replace springs without removing the heads. I would also recommend the larger ARP 7/16th taller rocker studs. For rockers I like the steel versions

yeah thx. I asked around and clem was right...all back order and no where to be found. so I'm gonna stick with my flat tappets.....unless I go with solid roller? or is it the same for those?
