Default Titanium Valves, streetable and gains?

Been looking at engine components and came across the Manley Ti Valves.

What advantages besides less weight (both valve and wallet) do these babies give?

Are standard hardened valve seats used with them?

Are they fail proof (normal operating ranges) in a street engine?

How much better at heat dissapation are they?

Titanium valves would be a waste of money on a street motor. You see them most on very high revving motors to reduce the weight of the valve train. Titanium rods are also somewhat popular, although hard on bearings at times.

So for an engine that probably would never ever see over 7000, complete waste-o-cash. :)

I only run titanium intakes. I only put them in for two reasons. My goal of 8000 rpm reliably. That means that I'm not going to get within 500 rpm of that 8000. But I have a safety margin. #2 is the price was right. I got nearly new 2.10 inch from a race team for about $20 each. So they were about the same price as my Manley exhaust valves. You have to run special seats with higher spring pressures because they will knock standard seats out of aluminum heads.

Scorp - Intake valve heat is not a consideration. Unless you just have too much money most people use the higher end steel exhaust valves.

I'm running Manley Pro-Flo right now on the intakes.

For $150 CDN I probably can still get both intake and exhaust used once on a dyno run. I bought them for my big block but the intakes required 11/32 guides. No big deal but the exhausts were too small so I returned them to a friend for a refund.

88-406 I have friends in both sprint cars and paved circle track (Southwest Tour cars). At the end of the season get on the internet and you have race teams closing and race dyno shops going out of bussiness and selling the inventory. I bought a set of Brodix-11 refreshed, fully ported down nozzle heads titanium valves, collars, new triple springs. For $1000. All they need for me to run them on the street was down port plugs and a streetable pressure springs. Of course Brodix intake and you would have over 360 cfm intake.

Some places also advertise in the mags. Some places only sell lots or Bins so you might get 250 titanium valves for $1000 bucks. But by the time you sort through and get the correct stem length and diameters you might only end up with a couple of sets of what you need. Or you think that you getting some good deal on super ported heads and they only have 38 cc chambers that would give you 15-1 with your flat tops.

gkull -
You've got me curious - why do you need higher spring pressures?

Maybe you misunderstood me. I only have 1.55 dia 195 lbs closed and 540# open. The -11's had real race 1.6... triples with 340 closed and who knows maybe 700 open. They had been running nearly .800 lift

I also use a rev kit and i have not noticed any valve float when I would turn 7500 rpm.

Most people don't run Ti valves on alloy seats, they usually use BeC seats.
