Just ordered a new rear assy for No Points. Fab-9 fabricated housing 9" with aluminum carrier, 35 spline axles, back brace, locker, 4.86:1 gears. Should be srong enough for street duty (LOL) and about 100# less weight (all sprung) than the Dana. Pricey way to cut calories :D . Buy hey, I would need to swap out the spool for a posi in the Dana, and this just seemed better.
Now have a narrowed Dana-60 available if anyone needs one. If not, Ebay here it comes ;) .
The axle assy itself should be 100-110# lighter than the Dana, I have no idea compared to a normal Vette IRS. With the abcense of rear factory frame rails and the 4-link with tubular rear frame there is probably another 100#. "Goal" is to get the whole car in under 2500#. A full tube car with BBC is about 2300, so trading some of the "stock" frame but going with a SBC I should come in about the same. Lexan windows are probably next on the list (but with a glass correct date coded windshield just to bug my wife, as her NCRS '70 doesn't have a date coded one  ).
